Sandvik Coromant
Sandvik Coromant is the world’s largest producer and supplier of technology and tools for the metal industry. They have opened a brand new innovation center, one of a kind and filled to the brim with unique technology. The goal is to spread knowledge to their customers and showcase what they are working on to attract the new generation of engineers and technicians. The innovation center should simply reflect today’s Sandvik and take them into the future. We at will come along on the journey and continue to work with them and roll out the concept in the rest of the world. BAS Arkitekter has been responsible for the vision and drawing while we have done what we do best – construction, manufacturing, interior design and construction project management.
The innovation center
The innovation center of approx. 2,500 square meters consists of an entrance, cafe, conference and machine hall. The interior is in an earthy tone combined with Sandvik Coromant’s own colors: various shades of steel gray combined with white and yellow as an accent color.
Reception & entrance
The entrance and reception welcome with a combination of white walls, green plants and natural colours. With an abundance of light, an open atmosphere is created with space for large groups of visitors, space for outerwear and storage of valuables.
Cafe
With a combination of earthy colors and shades of gray, the cafe offers a natural meeting place between soil layer and iron ore, a natural meeting place on Sandvik Coromant’s journey down into the ancient rock.
Conference
The conference and cinema facility could be described as the heart of Sandvik Coromant’s innovation centre. The interior is in dark dark grey, with chairs in Sandvik Coromant’s accent color yellow.
Touch Technology Corner and workshop
To to be able to visualize knowledge and processes, Sandvik Coromant has created both a demonstration corner (Touch Technology Corner) and a workshop section. Here, visitors can take part in Sandvik Coromant’s visualizations and practical knowledge. The premises are in a light white-grey color with elements of Sandvik Coromant’s classic accent color yellow.
Meeting rooms
The meeting rooms are furnished with black floor combined with light walls and ceiling. The short side goes with the earthy shades of the entrance and together with an abundant light, meetings in these premises are never boring.
